Kropf Moseley Schmitt PLLC is proud to have played a key role in a precedent-setting $120 million verdict following a two-month trial in federal court in Birmingham, Alabama. The verdict was for KMS clients Drummond Company, Inc., and Drummond Ltd.
KMS partner Sara Kropf was honored to be part of the stellar trial team led by Starnes Davis Florie LLP, Trey Wells, Ben Presley and Tony Davis who represented the plaintiffs in this long-running and complex litigation that began in 2011.
Through extensive factual development and trial advocacy, the team ultimately prevailed on Drummondβs civil RICO and defamation claims. The jury returned a verdict awarding $68 million on the RICO claims and $52 million in compensatory and punitive damages on the defamation claim. After statutory RICO trebling, the verdict will be $256 million.
